About us

Synagogue exteriorPinner is a quiet, garden suburb with a picturesque "Olde Worlde" High Street, in an area Sir John Betjeman famously named "Metroland". Pinner is halfway between Harrow and Watford and only 22 minutes from Central London by Metropolitan Line. It is also one of the very few villages in the country which still holds an annual fair, dating back to 1336. Pinner Synagogue, the heart of our Jewish Community, lies close to the centre of this quaint, historical 14th century village.

The Pinner Community was established in 1940 and has expanded to have members reaching out as far as Northwood, Moor Park, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and beyond. Our present building was consecrated in 1981, a welcome and much used home for our growing Community. In 1993 our membership was so large that members in Northwood were able to form their own Synagogue.

Pinner Synagogue interior In Pinner we see our Synagogue as an essential part of the continuity of our Jewish and communal values. We have our Youth Centre, the Henry Jackson Centre, next door to provide an additional focus for all religious and secular Jewish interests.
